What You'll Learn to Teach
From intermediate ballet positions to multi-muscle compounding sequences — the complete skill set for teaching beyond the CBI foundational curriculum.
Intermediate Ballet Positions & Vocabulary
Fifth and fourth position, retiré, attitude, arabesque, stag balance, dégagé, élevés, sousous, and plié roll-throughs — taught with the precise technique and cueing language that makes the difference between a student understanding form and just copying shape.
Equipment Integration at Every Level
Both manuals use equipment throughout — not as add-ons. The 9-inch exercise ball creates instability for pushups and core work; resistance bands intensify upper body sequences; hand weights turn standing core exercises into full-body conditioning at the barre.
Compounding Exercises — Level 3's Core Concept
Compounding exercises target multiple muscle groups simultaneously — biceps with lunges, arabesque with overhead press, oblique crunches layered with leg work. You'll learn exactly how to build these sequences so every exercise delivers more training effect in the same class time.
Core at the Barre — Floor, Standing & Seated
Level 2 covers barre-supported core work (crunches, leg extensions, lower abs) using the ball and straps. Level 3 adds standing compounds — oblique crunches, forearm plank on the barre, reach and pull — plus advanced seated sequences including the high C-curve.
Full Lower Body Depth
More than half of both manuals is lower body content — high parallel with lunges and attitude leg lifts in Level 2; curtsy lunges, wall sits, inner thigh ballet combinations, plié sousous series, and full arabesque work in Level 3. This is the most comprehensive lower body barre curriculum available.
Mixed-Level Class Management
You'll learn to present the same exercise at multiple difficulty levels simultaneously — offering intermediate progressions from Level 2 and compounding variations from Level 3 within a single class, so no student gets left behind and no advanced participant gets bored.
Three Complete Class Formats Included
The Level 3 manual includes three ready-to-teach class outlines — structured formats with exercise order, timing, and equipment notes you can use immediately.
Advanced Intervals
A total-body circuit designed to flow from interval to interval with minimal transition time — keeping heart rate elevated throughout. All equipment used simultaneously, set up before class begins.
- Ball, strap, hand weights & resistance tubing all used
- Warm-up, lower body, upper body, and core circuits
- Instructor notes on pacing and transition cueing
- Designed to elevate heart rate beyond traditional barre pacing
100% At the Barre
Every exercise takes place at the barre — no floor work, no mat transitions. Includes three distinct circuits covering upper body, lower body, and core without ever leaving the barre.
- Pliés, élevés, oblique crunches, arabesque series, biceps with lunges
- Three circuits structured for clean flow between muscle groups
- Ideal for studios with limited floor space or mat-free programming
- Adaptable for facilities without extra floor space
No-Equipment Advanced
A fully advanced class using bodyweight and the barre alone — no balls, bands, or weights. Designed for instructors who teach in studios without equipment access.
- Plank, triceps dips, pushups, double leg lift, oblique crunches
- Warm-up, lower body, upper body, and core all covered
- Proves that advanced barre doesn't require any equipment
- No equipment to set up or store — runs anywhere
Who Is This For?
- CBI-certified instructors ready to teach beyond the foundational curriculum — Level 2 is the natural next step after CBI
- Instructors whose students are getting too comfortable — compounding exercises from Level 3 challenge even experienced barre participants without requiring a separate advanced class
- Instructors with a dance, gymnastics, or Pilates background who want to incorporate the ballet vocabulary and positions they already know
- Studio owners who need instructors capable of teaching intermediate and advanced class formats — not just beginner barre
- Instructors who teach in equipment-limited spaces — the no-equipment class format demonstrates what's possible with bodyweight alone
- Anyone pursuing the Principal credential who wants the deepest possible content mastery before Board Review
