Policies & Terms

Our commitment to transparency, fairness, and protecting your information.

Privacy Policy

Effective: February 1, 2026

Discover True You, Inc., operating as the International Ballet Barre Fitness Association (IBBFA) and BarreCertification.com ("we," "us," "our"), respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide when enrolling in certification programs, creating an account, or contacting us. This includes your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, payment information, and professional background. We also collect course progress data, exam results, and credential status information necessary to maintain your IBBFA registry record.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to deliver certification programs and course materials, process payments and maintain enrollment records, issue and verify credentials through the IBBFA registry, maintain your profile in the instructor directory, communicate about your account, programs, and continuing education opportunities, and improve our programs and services.

Public Directory & Registry

By enrolling in an IBBFA certification program, you consent to having your name, credential level, credential status, and general location displayed in the public instructor directory and verifiable through ibbfa.org/verify. This is a core feature of IBBFA's credentialing system. You may request removal of your directory listing by contacting us, though your credential verification status will remain in the registry for employer verification purposes.

Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. We may share information with payment processors to complete transactions, CEC partner organizations to confirm continuing education credits, and service providers who help us operate our platforms (hosting, email, analytics), all of whom are bound by confidentiality obligations.

Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including SSL encryption, secure payment processing, and access controls. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting info@ibbfa.org. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, and EU residents have additional rights under GDPR. Contact us for specific requests.

Cookies & Analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to improve your experience, analyze site traffic, and understand usage patterns. You can control cookies through your browser settings. We use Google Analytics for aggregate traffic analysis.

Terms of Service

Effective: February 1, 2026

By enrolling in any IBBFA certification program or using BarreCertification.com, you agree to these Terms of Service.

Certification Programs

IBBFA certification programs are professional development courses. Successful completion requires passing all required examinations within the access period. CBI provides 12 months of course access; Principal Track provides 24 months of course access. Access extensions are available for an additional fee. All curriculum materials, videos, assessments, and resources are proprietary content of Discover True You, Inc. You may not reproduce, distribute, or share course materials.

Credential Maintenance

IBBFA credentials require a $99 annual registry maintenance fee after the included Active period (2 years for CBI, 3 years for Principal). If the fee is not paid, your credential status changes from Active to Lapsed. Lapsed credentials can be reactivated by paying the current-year fee with no penalty or re-examination required. IBBFA reserves the right to revoke credentials for violations of the Code of Ethics, fraudulent activity, or misrepresentation of qualifications.

Scope of Practice

IBBFA certification qualifies you to teach barre fitness classes within the scope covered by the curriculum. It does not qualify you to diagnose medical conditions, prescribe exercise for specific medical conditions outside your training, or represent yourself as a licensed healthcare provider. You are responsible for maintaining appropriate professional liability insurance and complying with local regulations governing fitness instruction.

Intellectual Property

IBBFA, Barre Certification, the IBBFA seal, and associated marks are trademarks of Discover True You, Inc. Certified instructors may use the IBBFA credential designation (e.g., "IBBFA-CBI") and verification badge on their professional materials. You may not use IBBFA trademarks in ways that imply official endorsement, partnership, or affiliation beyond your certified status.

Limitation of Liability

IBBFA provides certification education and credentialing services. We are not liable for injuries, losses, or damages arising from your teaching or professional activities. Our total liability for any claim related to our services is limited to the amount you paid for the specific program in question.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Maricopa County, Arizona.

Refund Policy

Effective: March 1, 2026

Individual specialty certifications are non-refundable once course access has been activated.

Registry Maintenance Fee ($99/year)

Annual registry fees are non-refundable once the renewal period has begun.
